Stillness of the Night

In the stillness of the night, I wake, I wonder, I dream with my eyes open.

Fragments from my slumber oscillate around my mind;

A party

You were there

And a girl foreign to me.

If we are only captured in the stillness of night now, I wonder if there can still be life.

Can we live between the gaps of reality, in the shadowy depths of the mind;

An abstract feeling

Akin to forgotten laughter

And aging like layers of cork bark

Rough around the edges.

I wonder if parts of us can merge and transcend, through the insanity of fragmented thought, rise above, land on space of comprehension.

You are there

Again

And I’m left wondering

If you will.
