Nature is alive through observation and poetry.
It’s not enough to see, it’s important to capture, to express and to recreate.
It’s day 229.
I have seen a Rainbow Bee-Eater in full flight;
A bowerbird dart into its nest;
A black-footed wallaby jump across rock piles at Telegraph station.
I have seen the red rocks in reflection waters at Stanley Chasm. I have touched their smooth exterior and felt the sun warmth enliven the stone.
I have bobbed deep into the depths of Ellory Water Hole. At one with the mass of liquid, playing with reflections and sinking, ever so slightly, into the poetry of presence.
I have walked the edges of Trephina Gorge – sighting from above running streams of water gather into pools deep and swim-friendly. A Birds Eye view, watching the snaking water take shape from above.
It’s day 229 and I have encoded my own memory into landscapes that were previously but a dream; an empty echo, softly calling, softly beckoning me into becoming.
It’s time to take a steep back, replenish, recalibrate – mark the time with sensitivity, poetry and wistful words – markings of wisdom and thought processes, time and space and continuity.
Who knows what sights and stories are in store for day 230.
But I will be there,
Ready to capture,
Ready to watch, grow, live –
A silhouette in the landscape,
Bobbing in unison,
Existing amongst it all.
